Blackjack Glossary Study

  • The following list offers you the basic blackjack terms and notions to know.

    A

    Anchorman - in accordance with blackjack glossary, the player who occupies the last place at the playing table and thus the last player who makes decision

    B

    Blackjack - the initial hand possesses 21 point combination (e.g. an Ace + any face card); automatic win of the owner

    Bust - the combination of cards which total is more than 21 points

    C

    Card Counter - a person who watches the traces of the cards left the game and thus calculates the card values which are still in the deck; act correspondingly to this data

    D

    Dealer - the casino staff member who shuffles and deals the cards each round of play

    Deck - a regular pack consists of 52 cards used to perform blackjack card game

    Double Down - an option for a player to double his wager and get only one card additionally to form the hand

    F

    First Baseman - in accordance with blackjack glossary, the player who occupies the first place at the playing table and thus the first player who makes decision

    Flat Bet - the only and stable wager size the player bets during the game

    Face-up card - the one of the dealer cards placed seen for players

    Face cards - Jacks, Queens and Kings; otherwise the paint

    Hand - the cards dealt by the dealer for player to operate

    Hard Total - in accordance with rules for blackjack, the hand which has no Aces or which possesses an Ace values 1 point

    Head-to-Head - the player vs. the dealer gameplay; opposite to PvP format

    Hit - additional card intake to increase the hand total points

    Hole Card - watch Face-up card

    House - otherwise the casino

    Insurance - an option for a player to secure his bet from the dealer blackjack; possible when the dealer hole card is an Ace

    Multiple-Deck - the game which is performed with 2 or more card packs

    Natural - one of the blackjack characteristics; otherwise standard or regular

    Paint - Jacks, Queens and Kings; otherwise the face cards

    Push - the situation during the game when the player total is equal to the dealer total

    R

    Round - the completed series of actions all the players + the dealer perform

    S

    Shoe - a box containing the card packs for blackjack performance

    Shuffle - the card mixing procedure performed by the dealer

    Single-Deck - the usage of 1 deck of cards during the blackjack playing

    Soft Total - in accordance with blackjack strategy peculiarities, the hand which possesses an Ace values 11 points

    Splitting Pairs - an option for a player to split his cards (pairs) into two separate hands

    Stand - an option for a player to take no more cards

    Surrender - an option for a player to leave the game at once, without making decision; the ½ of the initial bet returns to the player

    T

    Ten-Value Card - any card possesses the value of 10 points (all the 10's, Jacks, Queens + Kings)

    Third Baseman - watch Anchorman

    Tip or Toke - the player gift (a chip usually) for the dealer

    Twenty-One - otherwise blackjack card game.

    U

    Unit - the regular wager size

    Upcard - watch Face-up card
